Ask me anything about Crusader Kings II
I've been playing the preview version of Crusader Kings II for about a week now. If you have any questions about the game please post them in the comment section below and I will try to answer them all as well as I can. Please note that this is a preview version, meaning that things may change before the final release!
And a second note: I'm working on a small AAR right now. Stay tuned.

Yes. Definitely.

Are there special events or missions for the Reconquista in Iberia?
November 18th, 2011 - 16:04
Good question. I haven’t played with an Iberian character yet and my build is missing events. But from what I’ve seen from the events that I’ve witnessed I don’t think there will be special Reconquista events. But this answer isn’t definitive and we’ll have to wait for the final version to figure this out.

Are cultures important?
November 18th, 2011 - 16:09
Yes. Besides the obvious stuff like character names lieges and vassals of different cultures don’t like each other and the penalty is pretty big. There are mechanisms to change your culture.

How will the Mongol Invasions work in CKII?
November 18th, 2011 - 16:10
Damn, I actually don’t know. I should have made sure I knew this before I made this post. Hah, I’ll answer this one as soon as I know!

Yo! Are you allowed to make a LP with the preview version? If so…. GET TO IT
And btw are you going to continue your flanders lp?
November 18th, 2011 - 16:37
I think my Flanders LP will have to make place for my CKII LP. Which automatically answers your first question: YES.
November 18th, 2011 - 21:10

December 13th, 2011 - 17:15
that sooo sc**
December 14th, 2011 - 18:37
The thing that kept me coming back to CK was the way all the many rules combined for unexpected results — which made for excellent intrigues and conspiracies. So how does it compare to CK in this regard? Has it been dumbed down?

is it possible, for Flanders to become independent, create a geater flanders witch includes holland and brabant and what color does Flanders have on the campaign map?
December 31st, 2011 - 14:50
Flanders can become independent but only as a Duchy. Technically it could also control Holland and Brabant but so could Saxony for example. There is no Dutch or Low Countries Kingdom.
February 25th, 2012 - 23:11
I take it form this that you mean even if you have the dutchies gelre, holland and brabant and have become independent of the HRE, you still can’t become King of Holland? That sucks.
I was under the impression that any unique culture (in this case dutch) could eventually get a king, as I see kings of really small areas around eastern europe. So there is no way to go from Ducke to King unless you take over an already established kingdom?
December 30th, 2011 - 01:36
so when does the game get released ?
December 31st, 2011 - 14:50
February 7 2012.
December 31st, 2011 - 14:16
Is the bride-finding problem from CK1 solved and if so, how?
December 31st, 2011 - 14:51
There is a bride finder that suggests potential brides in the game.
January 2nd, 2012 - 23:32
What about requirements? And game speed also: Must I change my PC [i5]?
January 24th, 2012 - 13:24
I can’t really answer that but there are official requirements: http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-CK2/crusader-kings-ii
January 20th, 2012 - 07:47
Hey! I have a minor question, buy I’d be glad if you could answer. Can you tell me about the family tree of Hungary? Just basics, like the king and his sons or something like that. And perhaps their default hereditary law? Appreciate it! Thanks!
January 24th, 2012 - 13:27
At the earliest start Salamon I of Árpád is king and he has no children. He has two brothers, one being a bastard. The succession law they start out with is agnactic-cognatic gavelkind.
January 24th, 2012 - 14:38
Thank you so much! I can’t wait to play! First order of business is changing that gavelking.
February 15th, 2012 - 18:31
Is it possible to assign army’s general when raising levy? I’m count with 0 martial skill and i can’t figure out how to assign somebody more capable of leading an army, like my marshall. But when I try to change the commander it says “crown authority is too low”
February 15th, 2012 - 19:00
Yes, you can. But the tooltip is right, you need higher crown authority. Considering you’re a count there is nothing you can do about it though, your king will need to do it.
February 15th, 2012 - 19:23
I should have added that I’m independent count. I have no liege. Neither have I crown authority laws in laws screen. That’s why I find it weird not being able to assign commanders in my independent realm. Marshalls in CK made more sense since they actually lead your armies. Now it’s whoever’s city/castle/bishopy levy raised would lead it even with zero martial skill.
February 15th, 2012 - 19:37
Yeah, you’ll need to become king and change it. That’s how it works.
February 15th, 2012 - 19:42
Well, thanks for reply.
